Harry Warden

Served with Essex County Constabulary from Jun 3, 1938 and died on Mar 17, 1943.

Police Constable Harry Warden was the son of Charles and Ellen Warden, and was born on 31st May 1915 at Bures in Suffolk. He joined Essex County Constabulary on 13th June 1938 having previously seen service in the army between 23rd October 1933 and 14th March 1938.

After his initial posting at Headquarters Harry moved to Brentwood from 6th August 1938, and then to Laindon from 5th December 1938. He returned to Brentwood from 13th September 1939. He married Evelyn Warden, of Halstead, on 20th November 1939.

Two weeks later he was recalled to the army. He died on Wednesday, 17th March 1943 whilst serving as Serjeant 2613830 with the 6th Battalion, Grenadier Guards. He was aged 27.

He was buried in grave II. AA. 5. at the Sfax War Cemetery in Tunisia.
